Conservation in the Maasai Mara is of paramount importance, and has been focussed on the preservation of the wildlife, environment, land issues, human-wildlife, the Maasai and tourist practices.

The entry fee, paid by tourists entering the reserve, goes towards both conservation and to the surrounding community development projects. As of the 14th March 2008, the entry fee is USD 40 for adults and USD 20 for children. The Mara Conservancy could change the fee without any notice. Please check their website for more details

Kilima Camp is an eco-friendly Camp and takes the utmost care for the environment and its people, the Maasai. Needless to say our policy is to respect the rules and regulations regarding Conservation. This includes Off Road Driving, Noise and Speed Limits during our Safari to ensure that we do not disturb the animals in their natural habitat. Feeding the Animals and Purchasing illegal Animal products is strictly prohibited.

We have rented the land from two Maasai families since June 2006. Their income is indexed to our profits and we commit to contribute to the development of the local community through this profit distribution scheme and to a conversation scheme.
